- Munsiyari means a 'place with snow' and is known as the 'Little Kashmir' .It is often compared to Kashmir for its natural beauty . Munsiyari is located at an elevation of 7200 ft ,in Uttarakhand’s Kumaun region,130 km/5 hr from Pithoragarh District.
- The region is a paradise for the nature lovers and adventurous souls as it is a base for three glaciers namely Namik, Milam and Ralam and the stunning backdrop of Panchachuli. It's the gateway to the Johar region of inner Himalayas.
- Munsiyari also falls on the ancient salt route from Tibet and is at the entrance of the Johar Valley, which extends along the path of the Goriganga River to its source at the Milam Glacier.

- By Air : Pantnagar is the nearest airport, Air India operates flights from Delhi 3 to 4 days a week.
- By Rail : The nearest railway station to Munsiyari is Kathgodam, Uttarakhand, from here it is situated at a distance around 34 Kms. Haldwani & Kathgodam are adjacent to each other, Haldwani is like the entrance door to Kumaun , Uttarakhand and is well connected by trains from Delhi (Shatabdi runs daily),Lucknow, Dehradun , Jaipur, Kolkata.
- By Road : Haldwani is well connected by buses from Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Dehradun .From Haldwani one can travel by bus to Pithoragarh or Bageshwar. Bus timings(tentative) are provided .
